FAQs

Clinical grade oral hygiene and retainers need to go hand in hand, or is that tooth in retainer? We're here to answer all the questions about a clinical grade approach to retainer care and hygiene.

Give your retainer a quick rinse under cool or lukewarm water the second it pops out of your mouth. Gently brush away surface debris using a non-abrasive tool like the VITIS Monotip Toothbrush, then give it a regular soak in active oxygen VITIS Orthodontic Effervescent Tablets. These clinically formulated tablets fizz away stubborn plaque and bacteria without scratching or damaging delicate dental plastic. Job done!

That murky haze is usually mineral scale (calcium and tartar buildup from your saliva) coupled with bacterial biofilm hanging around. Standard toothpastes create microscopic scratches on plastic, giving bacteria a cosy hiding spot! Daily fizz-soaking with non-abrasive VITIS Orthodontic Effervescent Tablets actively breaks down mineral scale and restores crystal clarity. Now that's refreshing!

Please step away from the Fairy liquid! Dish soaps and household cleaners leave chemical residues you definitely do not want in your mouth. Meanwhile, standard toothpastes can rely on gritty abrasives that scratch plastic, creating micro-grooves where odour-causing bacteria love to multiply. Keep your retainer pristine and safe using non-abrasive, targeted products like VITIS Orthodontic Effervescent Tablets.

Absolutely! Bacteria and plaque start building a party on your appliance within hours of wear. A daily hygiene routine keeps bad smells, yellow staining, and tartar deposits far away while protecting your teeth from decay.

Time for a deep-cleansing soak! Pop your retainer into a cleansing bath with active oxygen VITIS Orthodontic Effervescent Tablets to tackle persistent plaque and odours. For tricky mineral deposits lodged in deep crevices, use a soft single-tuft brush like the VITIS Monotip Toothbrush to gently sweep them away. Word of warning: never use boiling water, or you will end up with a warped retainer!
